The “Progress” of the Website (Steven Rosen)

This website has been up since the beginning of May and I’m starting to be concerned that–aside from Lloyd Gilden’s post “On Children” (below) and a few dreams posted on the “Dream to Dream” page–the website isn’t “going anywhere.” Should it be “going somewhere”? What are my projections about that?

I’d like to be making “progress,” seeing many people visiting the website, and many participating in the dialogue. This will bring attention to the proprioceptive process that I sincerely believe can contribute to embodying cyberspace. But–in the spirit of proprioception–I must say that there is also a baser side to my desire for “progress.” It seems there’s a part of me that would like to be a more influential force in the cyber-community. It feels good to get people’s attention and be recognized and praised! At the same time, I experience some conflict about calling attention to myself. I don’t want to expose myself to demands that might be made on my time and energy. The fearful miser in me just wants to plant his “proprioceptive seeds” and be left alone. When another day passes with no response to the website, the “miser” feels relief.

I say all this not to criticize myself, but simply to report what I’m experiencing as proprioceptively as possible, whether it is “good” or “bad,” “noble” or “base.” My hope is that others will be prompted to do the same and share their self-insights so that this webpage becomes a place for proprioceptive dialogue, not just a proprioceptive blog.
