Dream of May 18, 2006

The rule of the gods over mythic humanity and the potent role of the goddess in this, seem reflected in my dream of May 18, 2006:

I was part of a large group of people caught up in a series of terrible catastrophes. The earth was cracking and shifting precipitously, and we were swept along in massive wrenching movements that we were barely able to survive. It seemed, though, that this apocalypse was being staged. The figures in control were hovering in the background behind partitions and walls. I could get glimpses of half faces, profiles that were partially concealed. From what I could make out, the shadowy creatures had the strange appearance of two-dimensional cutouts. And these phantoms possessed a scintillating, numinous, archetypal quality that reminded me of the Eleusinian Mystery Rites.

Despite the turmoil we were experiencing at the hands of the mysterious figures, there were glimmers of hope that we could get through the ordeal, and we finally reached the point where the upheavals began gradually subsiding. The challenges were becoming less taxing and the situation more settled.

Glancing toward the shrouded faces of those in control, I saw the partly covered visage of a stunning woman, and I was suddenly moved to tears. She was radiant amidst the lingering chaos and she looked at me with loving eyes. SHE LOVES ME, I knew. Overcome by emotion, I said: “Oh, my darling, oh, my darling.”

All is well. This anima figure, this goddess, is my darling, and I am redeemed!
