Bouncing Balls (John Dotson’s dream of November 23, 2014)

I am engaged with a stage production, and am in the balcony taking in the full performance at last. At a certain point in the sequence, a performer bounces a small ball—dense but translucent, highly charged with energy—very precisely off the edge of downstage, across the expanse of the theater and up to my position, exactly into my ready hand. And I return it with precision along the same parabola. Later, a large, squishy, transparent ball is bounced up to me, almost floating. I grasp it with both hands and sink my fingers into it. I am able to distend it easily to form a powerful and magical lens that enables me to take everything in with fresh and expansive perceptions. This ball I hold onto for further use.
