Breaking New Ground…and Owning It (John Dotson’s dream of December 31, 2016)

I am in the basement of 914 West Sullivan Street, my childhood home. I become aware that some major renovations are in progress, and I am soon fully engaged in the management thereof. I am working concretely in the wet and damp, cleaning, re-arranging, de-constructing/re-constructing.

Presently, I move into a new area (the southwest front of house), through an unknown, false wall, where a vast new zone is discovered. It is a region—dry, clean and clear. This space in fact is a forum, and it shows an open frontage. Some folks are at work to establish street-front enterprises there.

I now march forward and proclaim very emphatically,

THIS IS MY SPACE. YOU MUST GET OUT!

I OWN THIS SPACE. IT IS MINE.

And they begin to disperse…
